Remington Model 12 A (ref # 2736)
Remington Model 12 A (ref # 2736)
A very nice Model 12 in the A version. This is the model that was made to shoot .22 SHORT, LONG and LONG RIFLE bullets. The rifle has a round barrel with the Remington Logo stamped just in front of the receiver. A serial number of 592282 places production of this rifle in 1923. Receiver still has over 90 percent bluing, with some mottling on the left receiver side. The barrel has over 80 percent bluing remaining with even wear throughout. The magazine has slightly less bluing cover. Bore is very good on this rifle, shiny and still with strong rifling. Wood all solid with a few minor dents (e.g., left side) with original finish and is solid to metal unions. Forearm has regular screws with wood all solid. Sights are correct with Remington factory-issued shorter 98 1/2 rear sight and a No. 28 front sight. The flat butt plate has the Remington UMC logo. This is an opportunity for the Remington Collector to secure a quality Model 12A rifle that would also serve as an excellent shooter.
